Donations and Raffles!
Hey Soba-fans!
We’re at that time of year to start thinking about the upcoming Comiket on December 29th-31st. We’ve teamed up with a great guy in Japan who goes by the name Loserbait who’s gonna be helping us out for a while with various things. We’ve got a couple more doujins from Yumeko-chan’s stock from when she went to Japan, but we’re always looking to gather more to keep an ongoing supply of doujins to release to you all!
Velvet Kiss:
Besides doujins, another new development we’re working on is thinking about the future of Velvet Kiss. We’re steadily moving through the series for you all, but we were thinking of how long the gap between Volume 3 and 4 is going to be for everyone, so we bit the bullet and decided to start ordering the magazines for chapters going into Volume 4. This will make it so we can stay on top of the chapters as they’re released in Japan.
The problem with magazines versus buying tanks is the fact you have to repurchase the magazines for each chapter. So it can get a bit pricey. For all the tankobon lovers out there, we would still intend to purchase the tank of high quality pages with cover and little bonus material at the end, so have no fears on that end for your collection purposes~
Raffle:
We’re hoping to raise money for the future doujins and Velvet Kiss! In return, anybody who donates to us will be entered in a drawing for a Kuroneko doujinshi. It’s one Yumeko-chan grabbed in Japan, not realizing it had already been translated, so the doujin is in tip-top condition. If you’d like to check out the contents of the doujinshi, you can check it out on Fakku. Doujinshi in general are much larger than regular tankobon’s, more like the size of a magazine, with high quality pages. This doujin is even larger than normal, so it’s quite a nice addition to a collection (or the start of a new one).
Terms of Raffle:
Minimal donation amount to be entered is $5.00 USD
You are not disqualified for being outside the United States (Hooray!)
You are entered once in the raffle
We will contact you via the email address you use for your Paypal account, if it isn’t your main email and would like us to use a different email, please email ziggy@soba-scans.com with your Paypal email, the amount you donated, and let me know what email you’d like us to notify you with.
If you don’t want entered in the contest, but would like to donate anyway, please just let me know via email ziggy@soba-scans.com

Before I end this update, I want to send out a big thanks to the folks who have been using Depositfiles. We understand that during these times not everyone can donate, and we certainly don’t expect everyone to. However if you’d like to without sparing anything but about 30 to a 60 seconds of your time, we encourage you to download from Depositfiles, because every download helps us provide for more material and the website. We understand not every country allows for Depositfiles to be used, so we promise to always provide alternative methods for you to download (no sense in making it harder on you!)

That’s great news for Velvet Kiss! I can’t donate, but I’ll damn sure download from Deposit Files from now on. Thanks for going out of your way, guys!
I think it’s awesome you guys are going so far as to ordering the mags for Velvet Kiss, that takes some serious dedication, which makes me all the more thankful for people and sites like yours.
And I had no idea DF did that, so definitely from now on I’ll remember to use DF.

I don’t get around to editing very often and because the others tend to post more eloquently then myself I usually stick to ensuring that the website is running as fast and efficiently as possible, keeping track of our incoming and outgoing funds, and helping Ziggy with whatever she might need done here and there. I do manage to find time to edit occasionally though.
Since I’m actually posting for a change though I’d also like to throw in my thanks to everyone who takes the time to download material from depositfiles. It’s hard to put an exact number on the income since it fluctuates here and there but overall the funds from depositfiles alone will cover the biannual payments of our webserver, freeing up donations to be used on importing new material!

Hope you guys raise a good chunk of money from this! I always enjoy your releases(not specifically Velvet Kiss, contrary to popular belief.)
It’s the kind of thing I’d do if I had an infinite amount of time or if I were being paid to do it. But right now there’s too much other stuff going on, as well as other series I’d like to start once we get the current ones completed. I don’t mean to sound dismissive but we’re just not at a point where we have the capacity to do it.
Probably not, that series is pretty old, we have some different plans for in the future
Would you guys translate the last two volumes of Drakuun? It’s an older Jouji Manabe book, the first 3 volumes (of 5) were released by Dark Horse but it was left incomplete and I always wondered how it ended.
It’s not a doujin, but it has plenty of naughty scenes, just not explicit ones (like the other two Manabe books you are working on).
Raws for them are around, but if you can’t find them just drop me a mail.
I’m surprise in a good way how far you guys are willing to go for the fanbases.

Wow, even buying the magazines to stay on top of the latest chapters? That’s some real dedication. I don’t have a Paypal account yet but will be getting one soon. When I do, I’ll be sure to make a donation to Soba the first thing I do. Is there a deadline before which to donate to be entered into the raffle?
